When traveling in Kyrgyzstan, you are subject to local laws and regulations. The use of drones, satellite phones, or transmission equipment is strictly regulated and requires prior authorization, under penalty of fines or confiscation. Before sealing your bag, make sure to check the latest guidelines!
🔌 Electrical sockets are type C and F (standard European model, 220V, 50Hz), so you generally won't need an adapter. However, electricity is limited in yurt camps and mountain areas: remember to bring a power bank.
📶 Mobile coverage is good in Bishkek and medium-sized towns, but it becomes very spotty or non-existent as soon as you head into the valleys and high-altitude regions. You can easily buy a local SIM card (MegaCom or Beeline) upon arrival. Wi-Fi is available in most city hotels, but do not rely on it in remote areas.
We advise you to check your government’s official travel advisory website for Kyrgyzstan. There you will find general recommendations based on the regions visited, as well as useful last-minute updates.
