Tax for International Travelers Upon arrival in Tanzania, local authorities require a mandatory tax of USD 90 per international traveler. This tax must be paid directly on-site, usually at the airport or land border, either in cash (US dollars) or by credit card depending on the entry point. 👉 We recommend preparing this amount in USD cash to make the process easier.

⚠️

Riders from UK can obtain the permit from any post office. Riders from the US can obtain the permit from any AAA office. Other riders, please check with your government to determine the procedure in your country.

The international license must be presented with your license from your home country, so remember to bring both.

We will need the copy of the first page in order to check the validity, but also of the inner page where the stamps are.

💡

For citizens of the European Union or the United States, the visa is obtained on the government's e-visa website. The application is in English and will cost roughly $50 for a 90-day tourist visa. The processing time is approximately 10 days.

💡

As of October 1, 2026, all travelers, regardless of nationality, will be required to present NIC government-mandated insurance to enter mainland Tanzania, in addition to a Visa or e-Visa.
