- Passport, it must include two blank pages and it must be valid for more than 30 days after the departure
- Travel insurance which covers repatriation and medical expenses.

Good news for travel in South Africa: No visa is required for US/UK visitors staying less than 90 days.
Electronic Customs Declaration
South Africa has just made it mandatory, effective July 1, 2026, and without prior notice, to complete an electronic customs declaration online at https://www.sars.gov.za/travellerdeclaration/, replacing the old paper customs forms.
Completing this online form is required:
- At all border crossing points in the country (air, land, and sea).
- For travelers of all nationalities (whether visa-exempt or visa holders), both adults and minors.
- For every entry AND every exit from the country (or a layover only if leaving the international zone, in which case two declarations must be filed).
- Within 24 hours before entering or leaving the country (the form cannot be submitted earlier). For example, for a flight on Thursday, the form must be completed on Wednesday or Thursday.
- Free of charge.
Motorcycle Insurance & Damage Deposit
A deposit is required from the riders. The amount is indicated on the Detailed Itinerary of your trip, and differs depending on the destination.
The deposit is made through a bank imprint via our partner Swikly, but it is not debited from your account. At the beginning and end of your motorcycle trip, you will take part in an inspection of your motorcycle together with a representative of Vintage Rides.
The deposit may be retained in the event of damage to the motorcycle, or to cover the insurance excess in the event of an accident.
The price of any repairs and spare parts will be communicated to you for each destination in the travel documents.
